Building Smart, Safe Transportation Systems: EvoRoads as a Blueprint for Data-Driven Infrastructure Management

This presentation introduces the EvoRoads project (Grant Agreement ID: 101147850), a Horizon Europe initiative dedicated to advancing road safety and intelligent infrastructure management through data-driven monitoring, predictive maintenance, and stakeholder co-creation. EvoRoads develops an integrated connectivity platform that digitalises transport infrastructure, enabling continuous safety assessment and supporting the EU’s Vision Zero objective of eliminating road fatalities by 2050.

The presentation, delivered at the 6th International Conference on Control and Fault-Tolerant Systems (SysTol 2025), held in Ayia Napa, Cyprus (6-8 October 2025), outlines:

• EvoRoads in a nutshell: objectives and research axes;
• EU road safety challenges: infrastructure deterioration, user behaviour, and the gaps in current assessment frameworks;
