Description

This poster presents ChromoDB, a curated, searchable and traceable resource for plant chromosome counts, developed at the University of Barcelona. ChromoDB addresses the fragmentation, taxonomic inconsistency and limited bibliographic traceability of chromosome-number data by integrating taxonomic standardisation, links to original bibliographic sources, confidence levels, open versioned datasets and interoperability with external biodiversity infrastructures such as GBIF.

At the time of presentation, ChromoDB comprised 208,005 chromosome-count records representing 67,037 taxa, 7,694 genera and 457 families, with data from 172 countries and 21,327 bibliographic references. The poster also highlights the incorporation and curation of chromosome-number data from major bibliographic sources, with particular attention to OPTIMA publications including Flora Mediterranea and Bocconea.

Presented at the XVIII OPTIMA Meeting, Nevşehir (Cappadocia), Türkiye, 22–26 September 2026.
