From outreach to readiness: building Africa's presence in DOAJ

One of DOAJ's goals for the past four years has been to better represent African open access scholarship in the index by increasing the number of African journals indexed. This, along with DOAJ's Ambassador Programme has helped increase African journals from 268 in 2022 to over 830 as of August, with a goal of reaching 1,000 by the end of the year (2026).

This poster is about how DOAJ is building a resilient, sustainable and structured system on a continent full of challenges and opportunities. This is a shift from our previous strategy, which focussed more on raising awareness.
