Description

Presentation to introduce the FAIR principles to AQua Project members. The power point presentation introduces the FAIR principles in the context of citizen science. The sections included in the presentation are:

  • Principles of citizen science — the ten ECSA principles, and the four that are explicitly about data.
  •  FAIR  principles— Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable.
  • Persistent identifiers — the UK national PID strategy and the three identifiers we focus on: ORCID for people, ROR for organisations and DOIs for outputs, plus an example of them working together.
  • Metadata — discovery and contextual metadata required by the UKCEH Environmental Information Data Centre, and a recap of what a FAIR dataset looks like.
  • Who contributed what — why contributing to a dataset is recorded differently from authoring a paper
  • Call to action — five things we can do to make AQuA FAIR.
