Contributing to the archive

Useful context. Clear provenance. Reusable outputs.

Scope

This community collects archived FAIR BioHeaders outputs and closely related work that explains, implements, evaluates, or adopts its standards. Relevant contributions include specifications and schemas, software releases, workflow integrations, conformance tests, documented examples, and research publications.

Preparing a submission

  • Explain the record’s connection to FAIR BioHeaders and link to the relevant project, specification, publication, or implementation.
  • Provide an informative title, accurate creator information, a useful description, the release or resource version where applicable, and appropriate related identifiers.
  • State the license and preserve attribution and third-party notices. Deposit material you have the right to share.
  • Clearly identify drafts, demonstrations, and published releases. Describe what was tested, including schema and tool versions when reporting validation or conformance.
  • Include enough documentation and provenance for another person to understand and reuse the output. Keep examples’ synthetic or placeholder identifiers clearly marked.

Review and citation

Curators review submissions for relevance, metadata clarity, provenance, and documentation, and may request corrections. Our guiding approach is to keep metadata close to data, the required core small, and adoption practical.

For reproducible use, cite the DOI of the specific version used. A concept DOI groups the versions of a resource. Link archived releases to their source repositories and relevant publications.

For project questions or proposed improvements, use the relevant repository in the FAIR BioHeaders GitHub organization.
