Description

TABLE 1. The little we know about the distribution and ecology of tropical Myoplatypus species. Elevations were given in feet by Wood (1966, 1971), and are converted to meters and rounded to the nearest 50 m here. “Length” = male body length. For described species, body lengths were taken from Wood (1966, 1971; mean lengths if ranges given by Wood); for new species, total body length was used. For biprorus Blandford, information in Wood (1971) for the junior synonym querceus Wood was used. “Nr. collections (nr indiv.)” = Number of collections (number of individuals per collection, separated by commas). The 16 collections in Table 2 are not included for brevicornis here; none of them have host data. Abbreviations: CR = Costa Rica.; coll. = collections.
