Python Script for Automatic Image Sorting by Text Recognition
Description
This tool is designed to scan images for specific text and automatically sort them into a designated folder. It was developed to help manage scanning electron microscope (SEM) images, which are captured at various magnifications. During data collection, different magnifications are used to capture different structures of the sample. Metadata, such as magnification and other imaging parameters, are printed directly on the images.
When processing images in batches, it's crucial to analyze images with a specific magnification (e.g., 50,000x) in each run. To eliminate the need for manual sorting of hundreds of images, this tool allows users to select a folder containing all the images. The tool then scans the images using text recognition to identify those containing specific text (such as magnification, date, or sample name). Only the images that match the specified criteria are copied into the output folder.
