Description
This presentation, delivered at the 6th International Conference on Control and Fault-Tolerant Systems (SysTol 2025), held in Ayia Napa, Cyprus (6–8 October 2025), introduces the Workflow Automation Engine (WAE) - a transformative solution designed to automate and optimize critical business processes in the ore mining industry.
The WAE integrates a suite of advanced technologies, including Business Process Management Notation (BPMN), the Camunda Platform, the Elastic Stack, Hyperledger Besu, the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), and Smart Contracts, to deliver a comprehensive digital automation framework. By combining these tools, the WAE enables workflow visualization, enhances task coordination, ensures compliance with regulatory frameworks, identifies operational bottlenecks through analytics, and increases overall process efficiency. This solution specifically targets the challenges of managing complex, multi-stakeholder mining operations involving mining companies, contractors, logistics providers, and regulatory authorities. Through its modular and transparent architecture, the WAE supports secure data sharing, accountability, and optimization across the mining value chain.
The work is developed within the framework of the MINE.IO project (Grant Agreement ID: 101091885), funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme, as part of Task 5.1: “Workflow automation and smart contracts for processes digitization in mines and raw materials value chains.”
